Google, one of the leaders in the Internet industry, is now expanding
its services to the physical world. The new service, called Google
Space, is tested at Terminal One of London’s Heathrow airport. Google
space will allow users to log onto the Internet and check e-mails while
waiting for their flights.
According to Lorraine Twohill,
Google’s European marketing director, testing it on Terminal One would
function as a huge focus group. The Google team is considering the
Google Space as a means of testing its numerous products to the public.
Trained Google staff would be standing by at the booth to road-test its
other newly launched products and instantly getting useful feedback
from users.
“Depending on the success of the Heathrow situation, Google Inc. could
become recognized as a physical presence in stations, airports, and
streets worldwide,” Twohill stated.
Google Inc has launched a number of products such as Google Local,
Google Toolbar, Google Mail, Google Earth, Desktop search, Google
Mobile and Picasa, a picture management store. These are some of the
services the search engine provides its users to expand its catalogue
to all aspects of life.
Although Google has been launching its myriad products over the
last months, all of the new products are interlinked. It all comes back
to Google’s core DNA of search.
