Last Wednesday, Google launched its new Google Base feature that allows
an Internet user to upload anything into a searchable database open to
the public. As Google maintain its mission to organize the world’s
information, this new service would lead to an enormous expansion of
the search engine company’s contents.
The Google Base provides instant information regarding job listings,
photos, DNA sequences, recipes, individual database, real estate
listings and many more.
This newest service from the king of online search engines would locate
anything that had been uploaded on the spot as long as Google Base
finds users willing to provide the needed material.
Google Base submitters can describe what they uploaded by using keywords making filters and searches without difficulty.
However, the Google Base service has no means of transacting
business. In other words, the submitters should provide links for users
to follow in order to apply for a job, buy a car, or whatever services
the Google Base patron offers.
Many supporters have submitted information in Google Base. In fact, the
World Resource Institute has provided approximately 5 million records
on 200 countries in the Google Base regarding sustainable development
over a period of a century.
In addition, CareerBuilder.com is also planning to make its job listing
accessible to its users. Other businesses are deciding to join the
Google Base craze and organize their company’s content. The only
problem supporters question is whether Google is planning to launch
tools to complete the transactions. If this happens, Google would have
control on the business marketing of a certain company.
Google is confident that this new service would drive more traffic to the company’s site and information.
